1. Research & Development Support Technician
Job Purpose
To provide hands-on support to the R & D Engineers in the assembly, testing, and development of steel doorset products. This role enables the R&D team to focus on research, design and modelling tasks by taking responsibility for practical tasks and in-house assembly and testing.
The role reports directly to the Compliance and Public Affairs Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the assembly and testing of new and enhanced steel doorset products.
- Conduct hands-on engineering tasks, following instructions from R&D Engineers.
- Support value engineering projects by carrying out practical trials and adjustments.
- Set up and operate in-house development tests, documenting results accurately.
- Ensure components and prototypes are prepared to specification for further design validation.
- Work independently on assigned tasks while maintaining effective communication with the R&D Engineers.
- Maintain and organise tools, equipment, and materials within the R&D workspace.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting practical enhancements based on testing outcomes.
Key Skills
- Proven hands-on engineering or technical experience, preferably in product development or manufacturing.
- Practical skills in assembly, testing, or mechanical adjustments.
- Ability to interpret basic engineering instructions and drawings.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently within a small team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes or product testing equipment is an advantage.
- Computer literate – experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
Qualifications
- Relevant technical or engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ, HNC, or equivalent).
- Practical experience in a similar role may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
2. Junior Design Engineer
Job Purpose
As a Junior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the programming of the entire product range that we currently offer. Working to the job order specification you will use appropriate software to program the door sets to the customer’s specifications.
The role reports directly to the Design Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Use appropriate programming software to create programs for the punch and water jet machines.
- Comply with current drawing office standards for how models are drafted and documented, including naming conventions to minimise the risk of corruption of the Driveworks / Solidworks master models.
- Communicate non-standard requirements for manufacturing to the Production office, including drawings as appropriate, amend job descriptions in the Epicor manufacturing system where appropriate to aid communication to the assembly team.
- Assist in the resolution of manufacturing problems arising from the design of a particular door.
- Provide “as built” drawings as requested to the sales team.
- Investigate the causes of non-conformance and customer complaints. Identify and implement actions which will prevent recurrence.
- Ensure that the workplace is maintained in a safe and tidy condition.
- Ensure that manufacturing drawings and programmers are issued and controlled according to the requirements of ISO9001.
- Use PDM/Vault files to facilitate designs.
- Accurately log working time.
Objectives
- To ensure drawings and punch programs are delivered on time in full, product quality exceeds customers’ expectations and costs are controlled within budget.
- To suggest ideas for the continuous improvement of software systems and the associated business processes to improve productivity and eliminate waste.
- To participate in the new product introduction process as requested.

3. Sales Estimator
Job Purpose
The Sales Estimator is responsible for managing estimating projects and analysing data to produce accurate and compliant quotations for our diverse client base, which includes Main Contractors, Sub-Contractors, and Architects. This role requires a commitment to delivering excellent customer service through clear and timely communication while maintaining the highest professional standards.
The Sales Estimator will foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and respect, ensuring pride in their work and a focus on finding long-term solutions to support customers. This position demands a proactive, detail-oriented approach to both project management and customer satisfaction.
This position reports directly to the Sales Office Manager/Commercial Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimating & Quotation Development:
- Produce quotations for projects using the EPICOR system and submit them to the Sales Office Manager within dedicated timescales.
- Review enquiries to ensure the ability to supply compliant quotations within the company’s product range.
- Ensure all quotations are 100% accurate, including relevant margins, and comply with certification requirements.
- Manage quote amendments pre- and post-sale to meet customer and project needs.
- Raise DFA’s (Design for Approval) when required, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Customer Interaction & Service:
- Communicate regularly with external customers to ensure comprehensive and compliant quotations.
- Maintain regular customer contact regarding key quotations to address inquiries and updates.
- Answer general technical enquiries, including specifications, certifications, and building regulations, consulting the technical team when necessary.
- Internal Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure the accuracy of information and timings within quotations.
- Work closely with the Projects, Technical and Operational teams to address customer and project requirements effectively.
- Process Adherence & Improvement:
- Follow all standard operating procedures and processes to ensure consistency and quality.
- Continuously look for ways to improve the quoting process and contribute to operational efficiencies.
- Ensure KPIs related to estimation and customer engagement are met consistently.

- Ability to understand standards and the routes to compliance advantageous.
- Construction product/systems estimating experience preferred.
4. QA Technician
Job Purpose:
Ensure production standards are met and maintained for products before they leave the site.
Maintain Quality Management Systems including document control, review and create documents, work instructions, dashboards, and other quality administrative tasks.
Reporting To:
Reporting directly to Quality Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Complying with all standards, internal policies and legal regulations.
- Carrying out in-process quality inspections and audits.
- Identifying and reporting non-conformities.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.
- Maintain waste management system liaising with external providers.
- Measuring equipment – control and calibration.
- Assist in non-conformance system maintenance.
- Assist in customer complaints system maintenance.
- Assist in Quality Management Systems maintenance:
- Document control.
- Maintain quality dashboards up to date.
- Maintain quality documentation up to date.
- Create/update standard operating procedures where required.
- Provide quality procedures training where required.
- Keep training records up to date and maintain training matrix for all departments.
- Participate in improvement projects.
- Support the Quality Manager in internal and external audit preparation.
- Deal/provide support with day-to-day quality issues.
- Ensure product compliance with required standards.
- Holiday/sickness cover for quality controllers.
