CNC Operator
Job Purpose
The CNC Operator is responsible for producing high-quality steel door skins using a fully automated Salvagnini S4P4 machine. This role requires efficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to work within tight tolerances to meet production targets and scheduled deadlines.
The CNC Operator plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the manufacturing process, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain Salvagnini CNC machine to cut and form steel door skins.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, and job orders to determine machine settings.
- Adjust machine parameters to achieve precision cutting and shaping according to specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct quality inspections to verify accuracy, consistency, and compliance with manufacturing standards.
- Troubleshoot minor issues with the machine and escalate complex problems to the maintenance team.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with other team members to improve efficiency and workflow.
- Keep accurate records of production output and machine performance.
- Adhere to all Company policies.
Skills & Experience
- Clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, technical instruction and asset care.
- Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication processes and tooling setup.
- Experience producing precision turned or milled components, preferably to close tolerances
- Experience of machining sheet metal
- High levels of attention to detail
- Ability to accurately follow processes and procedures

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 3 – 7 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- A recognised time-served apprenticeship/modern apprenticeship within a Mechanical Engineering discipline, along with either NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience operating CNC machines, preferably in a metal fabrication environment.
- Strong understanding of CNC programming and machine setup (experience with Salvagnini machines is an advantage).
- Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations in a manufacturing setting.
- Flexibility to work shifts and meet production deadlines as required.
